The Road to the ISGP World Tag League (2018) is a speedrunning event promoted by the International Spyro Grand Prix (co-chaired by CrystalFissure and Nintendogen64. The event began on August 27, 2018 and is designed to be a follow-up to the 2018 ISGP and the 2018 ISGP World Tag League.

Background Edit

On August 1, 2018, Yeswally1 defeated ChrisLBC, TOTOzigemm and Caitelady to become the inaugural ISGP Champion. During the speedrun, however, LyleBandicoot93 would taunt Wally declaring that due to his defeat over him in the Dragon Racing-World Cup group stage, he would be entitled to a championship match if Wally were to be successful. Wally would ultimately be victorious and capture the ISGP Championship. On August 17, 2018 the ISGP hosts, Nintendogen64 and CrystalFissure, would award Lyle his championship match; which was scheduled to take place during the Road to the World Tag League event.

During the 2018 ISGP, g4video5 defeated Nintendogen64 and Baronzef in a Spyro 2 speedrun to capture the Crassic Speedrunning Championship; this made g4video5 the inaugural champion. At the conclusion of the ISGP, g4 made the decision to cease defending the championship and thus vacated it on August 1, 2018. Initially, a special exhibition Five-way rematch of the I'm A Speedrunner 7 was scheduled to take place at the Road to the World Tag League. However, after g4's decision to vacate, the match was changed to be a Five-way Toy Story 2 match pitting CrystalFissure against MuddyMaestro, Ratchet5, Zaydskate and MrGameSendy for the Crassic Speedrunning Championship. MuddyMaestro won the speedrun, becoming the first ever Canadian to win a championship in the process.
